Torver - the book

This is the delightful history of the village written by John Dawson in 1985. Torver The Story of a Lakeland Community Published by Phillimore & Co Ltd, Shopwyke Hall, Chichester, Sussex You can still get 'Torver’ at Amazon, not new, but good as. It really is a wonderful book giving the history of the village and a mass of  fascinating information about how we used to live.  It is full of maps,  old photographs and illustrations.        Go on, treat yourself! John also wrote a number of articles for the Nobbut Torver magazine and I will be posting  them in the Torver History pages over the coming months.  I will mark them (JD) in the list. 22nd December 2011...     I have just received the sad news that John Dawson passed away today.
